Traveling with your pet: rules to follow

Latest News

Cats, dogs, rodents… they too can go to discover new horizons. For this, you just need to follow a few rules. Each destination has its own health requirements and conditions. That’s why it’s important to get informed before leaving unless you want your pet to be left behind.

Among the required international health standards is rabies vaccination. Rabies affects about 50,000 people worldwide each year. In 90% of cases, the disease is transmitted through contact with infected dogs. Hence the necessity for this vaccine.

To prevent risks, all airports are equipped with veterinary services. Customs services are tasked with checking if they are in compliance with the health plan when entering European territory. This plan includes strict regulations like a valid rabies vaccination, in addition to a tattoo or microchip. Also, a blood test must have been carried out 3 months before arriving in Europe by a laboratory approved by the European Union.

To prevent and communicate on this matter, Nice Cรดte d’Azur Airport, in collaboration with the Veterinary Services and Customs, is organizing a communication operation on Friday, July 3, 2009, at Terminal 2 of the airport.
