XVIIIth Ancient Music Festival of L’Escarène and the Paillon
“Journeys: From Earth to Sky”
From July 16 to 30, 2008
Saint Peter’s Church – L’Escarène
Arcimboldo… the Marvelous, without a doubt, this is why since its inception, the L’Escarène Festival has chosen this astonishing Milanese artist as its emblem. His work stands out as a brilliant and fixed point, attracting, exalting, even reassuring because it is the creation of an accomplished artist in his singularity, as are the greatest.
Born of the passionate love for music by a few volunteers, with the support of the Association of Friends of L’Escarène, this event was created in 1991, focusing its musical theme on baroque, vocal, medieval, and sacred styles.
By relocating to the villages of Haut Paillon, Lucéram, Contes, and Coaraze, the “L’Escarène Festival” fills an unoccupied niche in the Alpes-Maritimes Department, striving to introduce the latest musical and musicological developments to a broad audience.
This eighteenth season confirms, if needed, this event’s status as a reference for Ancient music.
