The “Les Sources” clinic holds State approval specific to Alzheimer’s disease. Indeed, thanks to its “memory consultations,” access to a quality diagnosis is structured. These consultations, established following the first national Alzheimer’s plan in 2002, allow for the evaluation of memory and the detection of cognitive disorders associated with Alzheimer’s disease and related conditions.
In the Alpes-Maritimes, 15,800 people over the age of 75 are reportedly affected by the disease.
Given the severity of this pathology, Christian Estrosi has sought for the Alpes-Maritimes General Council to be involved in Alzheimer’s disease care: proposing at the level of the gerontological scheme and supporting the project initiated by the Nice University Hospital to create a specialized institute in Nice, the “Claude Pompidou” institute.
In accordance with the national Alzheimer’s plan, which will be backed by new resources provided by the medical deductible, the Alpes-Maritimes General Council is committed to three objectives:
– to promote screening and epidemiology of Alzheimer’s disease,
– to improve patient care, both at home and in facilities, and to support families,
– to develop research.
The General Council will create, within the framework of the Departmental Observatory of the Elderly, an Alzheimer commission in collaboration with the national “Ménard” commission – established on September 3 by the President of the Republic – tasked with actively engaging with all partners of the gerontological scheme as well as preparing specific projects.
