The Polar is holding its second fair in Drap.

Latest News

For the second year, the village of Drap, located 10 km from Nice, will experience its darkest hours this weekend. The color of the program? Black, obviously! And maybe a bit of red!!! Because, what would a crime novel be without a murder? Without a drop of blood? Blood? There will be some in the words that have left their marks in books. The hand of the author? It will be there to give you their alibi, but only if your interrogation is well conducted.

So a warning to sensitive souls, on Saturday, September 27, and Sunday, September 28, in this town of the Paillon Valley!

PRESENT AUTHORS:

Patrick Raynal as the patron of the fair, JB Pouy, Alain Raybaud, Jean-Pierre Orsi, Romain Slocombe, Pascale Ferroul, Serge Yves Ruquet, Paul Carta, Jean-Paul Ceccaldi, Arnaud Duterque, RL Bianchini, Lionel Herbert, Andrรฉ Vignol, Pierre Hanot, Georges Foveau, Laurent Andrรฉ, Catherine Fradier, Ysa Dedeau, Michรจle Blachรจre, Francis Zamponi, Jacques Mondoloni, Daniel Angelo, Christian Paillet, Philip Le Roy

THEMES OF THE DEBATES

THEME 1: โ€œThe year 1968 and its repercussions on the crime novelโ€

THEME 2: Mystery!!!

THEME 3: For almost 20 years, the detective novel has gained legitimate importance for the youth. Since the first collection “Souris Noire” at Syros, the genre has evolved, and the stories usually have happy endings even if some strong themes (violence, unemployment, poverty, extortion…) are addressed, much like in adult literature. Is young adult crime fiction just adult crime fiction with younger heroes?

ACTIVITIES AROUND THE BOOK:

The children of Drap, along with the OMJCL, create and present “crime novel” style scenes. They write and illustrate a comic strip.

A black and white photo contest on the theme of the crime novel (e.g., staging a crime) with an element from the Paillon Valley (monuments, characters, signs…) as a clue.

Three exhibitions are planned: Patrick de Beaussier “New York and the crime novel”, “May 68”, and “A Fresh Take on the Crime Novel”.

An illustration workshop with Pierre Hanot, author, musician, visual artist… open to all.
