For Lines of Asia, not less than a hundred objects are on display for all to see. The permanent works, as well as the most fragile pieces of the collection, such as an 18th-century Taoist priest’s robe or a 19th-century velvet ikat woman’s coat. “I find it magnificent! It’s not every day that one can admire things so ancient and full of history,” exclaims Julie, a young student. “I came here a bit by chance, I thought it might be nice and Iโm really not disappointed!” she adds.
A collection built since 1988
On the side of the General Council, they are pleased with the collection created by the museum: “Since 1988, the museum has built an internationally renowned collection. Twelve diverse acquisitions, that’s not nothing, it represents something!” Since its opening in 1988, the museum of Asian Arts has managed to acquire more and more beautiful pieces.
Note that until January 31, the museum is exhibiting, along with Lines of Asia, the photographs of Yann Savalle based on rice farming. All works will be displayed until June 13, 2011.
