The rock band LOW BUDGET at the Théâtre de Verdure: a special evening of music and charity.

Latest News

For a few years now, the members of this unique group have been striving to demonstrate it during several evenings where everyone forgets their professional skills to enjoy themselves and bring pleasure to others.

Why unique? Because this group is organized like a family gathering with two brothers, the son of one who is also naturally the nephew of the other, and a brother-in-law of one of the two brothers who is also the uncle of his nephew (absent from the 2010 campaign): we are talking about Claude Mariottini (a cardiologist by profession), Jean-Pierre Mariottini (a dental surgeon) and his son Pierre (a law student), and Emmanuel Sibona, the only “outsider” to the family! Guitarist and singer-songwriter the first, drummer and guitarist respectively the second and third, and bassist the last.

You will have the pleasure of listening to them this Tuesday evening in a concert of about twenty pieces, including ten songs composed by themselves. But the evening also has a purpose, which is to raise money to purchase defibrillators that will be distributed to sports clubs and associations, where their necessity in emergencies proves decisive in saving human lives (Claude Mariottini, being a cardiologist and a great expert on this issue, is the originator of the idea).

While waiting to listen to them, we met the youngest member of the group, Pierre Mariottini, 22 years old and a guitarist, to whom we addressed a few questions:

NP: Everything has a beginning. What is the start of Low-Budget?

My father and my uncle will tell you that the group was already formed before I arrived, but that doesn’t correspond to the reality of the facts. It was after I transitioned from studying piano (from age 6 to 18) to playing the guitar at the age of 15 that the idea of doing something musically began to take shape.

Since 2006, we have given a few concerts a year depending on our schedules’ availability. We are not professionals, so we want to have fun and at the same time do something useful: my whole family (father, uncle, grandfather, I also started medical studies but eventually chose law instead) is involved in the medical field. That’s why the idea of helping municipalities purchase defibrillators seemed consistent to us.

NP: Your passion for music goes beyond your role as a guitarist in the band “Low Budget.”

P.M.: I have loved music since I was very young and was raised in a favorable environment. After studying piano, I switched to the guitar. Unfortunately, my obligations as a student prevent me from devoting as much time as I would like to this passion.

But from time to time, I can’t help but go down to a basement equipped for this purpose and give a recital with some friends. Sometimes I’m even alone, so I’m both a singer-guitarist and the only spectator. Isn’t that a passion?
