“From Friday, November 12 to Sunday, November 14, 2010, for the sixth consecutive year, C’est pas classique confirmed, with an increase in the number of spectators (58,000 compared to 55,000 in 2009), the success of a unique concept that offers everyone the opportunity to discover and appreciate the classical repertoire with original approaches thanks to the complete free access.

pasclassique-2.jpg” Given the success achieved this year, which confirms the massive public support for this original concept launched by Christian Estrosi and co-organized with the City of Nice, the next edition will expand to other spaces and cultural venues in the city, to allow even more people to benefit from C’est pas Classique; many shows were sold out this year,” declared Eric Ciotti, Deputy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes General Council.

After selling out for 3 days, this new edition, which highlighted programming for young audiences, reaffirms this event as the unmissable highlight of autumn on the Côte d’Azur.

Throughout the weekend, we witnessed the enthusiasm of families, youngsters, and music lovers who came to enjoy circus shows, street concerts, masterclasses, and other workshops. Children, from a very young age, were able to get familiar with different instruments, learn about music, and attend performances specially designed for them, such as “Pentimento” by Compagnie Cirque O Présent, “Cinderella,” the adaptation of Jules Massenet’s opera, or “Peter and the Wolf” by Serge Prokofiev.

The grand evenings also sparked the enthusiasm of the Azurian public, who gave a standing ovation to the three violinists Didier Lockwood, Gilles Apap, and Sarah Nemtanu, performers of “The Violin in all its States, its Repertoires and its Stars,” as well as to the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, which presented “Homage to John Williams” and “Famous Overtures, Polkas, and Waltzes.”

C’est pas classique allowed the 3,000 spectators who could not access the concert halls to enjoy animations and performances offered in the public spaces of Acropolis, as well as on Garibaldi Square and Avenue of the Republic.
