The statements made by Christian Estrosi to the citizens regarding neighborhood issues (Nice Matin, January 27) prompt three remarks from us:
1/ The mayor of Nice should stop misleading the residents of the Pasteur neighborhood. The only file that exists with the prison administration was about a reconstruction project on site. We challenge the mayor of Nice to provide the names of the three sites that are the “subject of reflection.”
2/ Regarding the Costière de Magnan, where “no more permits will be granted,” Ch. Estrosi had indeed proposed to the Municipal Council on October 7th a modification of the PLU (local urban plan) concerning this parcel, increasing the buildable surfaces from 1,600 to 8,000 square meters and the heights from 7 to 15 meters. Listening to us on this subject is good, but also listening to us on social housing in the city center is even better!
3/ Concerning the Costanzo center, Christian Estrosi could have thanked the neighborhood residents for their determination to stop the project for which the mayor of Nice had already signed the building permit. Listening to residents in advance would have saved everyone 18 months and the cost of legal procedures.
Christian Estrosi is in campaign mode; the time of promises has returned. But since 2008, the people of Nice have grown accustomed to the fact that after the time of promises comes the time of arbitrary decisions, which only citizen mobilizations can challenge.
We will be part of all these mobilizations.
Robert Injey and Emmanuelle Gaziello, Municipal Councillors of Nice
