This exhibition is part of the program for the 2nd edition of the Spring of Jewish Cultures of the Cรดte dโ€™Azur,
organized by the Unified Jewish Social Fund and the Jewish Pedagogical and Cultural Center of Nice.

Daniel Schinasi was born in Alexandria in 1933. After studying commerce, he attended evening drawing classes at the Silvio Bicchi Academy in 1953.
In 1956, he left Egypt during the Suez War and settled in Livorno with his Sephardic family.
He claims the influence of the Italian Renaissance and draws inspiration from the Impressionists (Pissarro, Monet, Van Gogh, and Gauguin),
later identifying with the world of Metzinger, Feininger, and Franz Marc’s Geometry.

A contemporary of Italian Futurism, he distanced himself to develop his own style and founded the โ€œNeofuturismโ€ movement in the 1960s.
A accomplished artist, he has presented more than 200 solo exhibitions and 30 retrospectives since 1955 in galleries, museums, art centers, and cultural institutions.
This modern artist creates his works using mixed techniques, including tempera, along with oil, gouache, ink, pencil, and pastel.
In 1970, he began creating large murals in the halls of train stations, universities, industries,
hospitals, and theaters. He directed the Libera Art Academy in Tuscany from 1970 to 1990.

Schinasi’s work titled โ€œFrom Darkness to Lightโ€ from 1998 (70 x 65 cm) overflows with human emotions and poetic inspiration, addressing the people of Israel. Against the backdrop of a Jerusalem flooded with light, its fields rich with fruits and foods, in harmony with nature and the landscape, the farmers of Israel serenely work the fields, amidst flowers, air, and light, immersed in the enchanting dream of a radiant future.
It is a triumph of colors, yellows, reds, and azures that blend between sky and earth, with the flight of light white doves heralding the transformation of darkness into light, from an uncertain present to a bright future. His work exemplifies a spirituality inspired by the reality of Israel and its historical present.
