As every year for the past 3 years, the Victoires du Sport will reward the champions from Nice who have stood out during the last sports season. In addition to these awards, you will choose who will be the female athlete, the male athlete, and the para-athlete awarded the title of champion of the year. Three categories and five nominated athletes in each, it’s your turn to play!
In the women’s category, a high-level choice is offered between five champions who have each won national and international titles. First of all, two queens of the pools with Camille Muffat and Charlotte Bonnet who have distinguished themselves this season with numerous French Championship titles and, for Camille Muffat, two bronze medals at the World Championships in 200 and 400 meters freestyle. For Nastasia Noens, it was the snowy slopes worldwide that saw her confirm the hopes placed in her with a superb 8th place in the overall World Cup standings and a fine 3rd place at the Flachau World Cup. It was in a ring that Adeline May clinched the title of World Champion under 18 in French Boxing, while Nadia Vigliano won a fantastic French Javelin Championship title in Albi with a throw of 55.59 meters.
In the men’s category, it is also in the pools where Yannick Agnel shone with two French Championship titles and a vice world champion title in the 4×200 freestyle relay. Sofiane Milous made his mark on the world tatami mats by finishing 3rd in the Rio Grand Slam tournament and 2nd in the Moscow Grand Slam tournament before becoming France D1 Champion with his club Olympic Judo Nice, as did his teammate Loïc Pietri, who won the World Cup tournament in Poland and the European Cup tournament in London. Named sailor of the year 2011, Jean-Pierre Dick no longer needs an introduction, being the winner of the Transat Jacques Vabre and the Barcelona World Race. Finally, Baptiste Mourrain represents the ardor and future of Nice’s young sporting generation with a French fencing cadet championship title and a 3rd place finish in the national junior circuit.
In the para-sport and adapted sport category, Benjamin Landier had a pretty remarkable year with a world championship title in paratriathlon and paracrosstriathlon plus a French championship title in road cycling.
