Continuation of the exploration of European cinematography: what’s happening on the other side of the former Iron Curtain?
Have the economic and political changes altered… the production conditions, the themes of cinema, the perspective of directors in the countries of Central Europe, formerly called “the East”?
The fall of communism, color revolutions, entries into the European Union, liberal globalization: are these events addressed by these different cinematographies, and in what form(s)?
These are some of the questions that the Cinema of Europe 2012 aims to provide some avenues for cinematic reflection through a quick overview of the last few decades, from the new waves of the 1960s and 80s to recent productions.
