The Italian Democratic Party is organizing a polling station in Nice for the election of its national secretary.

This is a first, but aren’t we moving towards a borderless Europe? Next Sunday, the Democratic Party (Center-left in Italy) will elect its national secretary with an “open” consultation for all Italian citizens and residents in Nice and its region who identify with its values and who will sign a charter of adhesion (not to be confused with party registration).

They will need to choose among three candidates from a vote among the registered: Matteo Renzi, the current mayor of Florence and the big favorite, Gianni Cuperlo, and Pippo Civati.

For the first time, the Democratic Party, for which primaries for internal elections or candidate designations are a statutory requirement, will open a polling station in Nice.

This will be at the Socialist Federation headquarters at 9 Biscarra street, and voters can vote from 9 AM to 7 PM. The representatives of the PD responsible for this operation are Bruno Capaldi, representative of Italians from the consular district and Monaco at the General Council of Italians abroad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Enrico Musella, president of the Comites, and Nicolas Placidi, an employee of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Nice.

It should be noted that the Nice Socialist Party refused to organize a primary to nominate its candidate for mayor of Nice for the 2014 election.

Today, it provides the logistics for those of an Italian party. Simple coincidence or awareness?

Sometimes, the logic of politics is really difficult to understand.
