The Nice Eagles were defeated in Lyon with a score of 6-3. A result with a bitter taste considering the performance of the Eagles. The team from Nice drops to 6th place before hosting Montpellier.
Yet, the Eagles started the match well. The team from the French Riviera managed to “kill” 3 penalties during the first period! Even better, it was the team from Nice who opened the scoring with a shot from Michal Kapicka (0-1)!
In the second period, the Eagles quickly scored the second goal through a play by Joakim Arsenault.
But Lyon hadn’t said their final word and scored 3 goals in 4 minutes! A cold shower on the Nice bench. 40 seconds before the end of the second period, the Eagles conceded a fourth goal.
In the third period, the Eagles raised their level of play. Fast and collective, the team from Nice chained good moves. The effort finally paid off, with Vladimir Kubus restoring hope to the Eagles in a power play (4-3). But still in a power play, the team from Nice got caught on a counterattack (5-3).
The team from Nice pushed throughout the third period, but the Lyon defense let nothing through. At the end of the match, Lyon scored their sixth goal into an empty net.
They must quickly recover this Saturday at the Jean Bouin rink against Montpellier!
