Jean-Paul Dalmasso, 58 years old, considers himself a child of La Trinitรฉ, even though he was born in Nice, but “my parents came to live here when I was little.” Married and father of two grown children who are his pride: “my daughter is a lawyer in Nice, and my son is taking over the reins of my metal recycling business. This Trinitรฉ-based company, I founded it 32 years ago. Today, it is prosperous and job-creating,” he tells us.

dalmasso.jpg Nice Premium: You are a candidate in the upcoming municipal election. In one word: Why?

Jean-Pierre Dalmasso: Because I am a Trinitรฉ resident, because I know this city, because I have proven my ability to manage the affairs of the municipality, and I want it to continue its economic and cultural development.

Nice Premium: What are your three main campaign focuses and, indeed, your three projects inherent in these?

Jean-Pierre Dalmasso: I will continue to improve the quality of life, social connection, and security for all Trinitรฉ residents.

We will continue the redevelopment of the city center as we started with the rehabilitation of General de Gaulle Boulevard. We will implement the second phase of equipping with video surveillance after having created the municipal police and equipped the municipality with an urban supervision center. We will build a multifunctional community center, and we will rehabilitate neighborhood halls after having equipped our community with a media library, a school, a nursery, a sports complex, and a pรฉtanque court.

I will continue to support the purchasing power of all residents of La Trinitรฉ. We will reduce the Housing Tax because we have managed and maintained the municipal finances well.

I will create favorable conditions for the economic development of the city by working on the redevelopment of the Anatole France Zone.

Nice Premium: Who says candidate says list. Can you already tell us about some of your running mates?

Jean-Pierre Dalmasso: I have already announced that I will lead an open list representing all Trinitรฉ residents and all generations of Trinitรฉ residents. Supported by my political family, the UMP, my running mates will come from all political backgrounds and will have to work in the service of all Trinitรฉ residents.
Managing a municipality is a very serious issue, and I demand a clear and impartial commitment. Moreover, I commit to being fully available for my community and to hold only the position of Mayor.

Nice Premium: An election also means opponents. How do you assess yours?

Jean-Pierre Dalmasso: I reiterate that I am uncompromisingly attached to the values of the republic. Democratic debate is its main expression. In this sense, I respect my political opponents as long as they share the same mindset.

We solicit voters on local political orientations, on concrete proposals that must meet their expectations.
However, some of my opponents are motivated only by personal ambitions and are parachuted by political organizations.
Unfortunately, this is the proven case of one of them. Arriving out of nowhere in 2008, the PS/MRC candidate quickly demonstrated his political opportunism.

He even ran in the legislative elections for La Seyne-sur-Mer.
He lost, but what would he have done in La Trinitรฉ if he had been elected? Moreover, as Regional Councilor for Michel VAUZELLE, he was appointed CEO of AREA, albeit on an interim basis, but is this position truly compatible with that of a full-time Mayor? Those who condemn holding multiple offices do not set an example!

As for the National Front candidate, he is a complete stranger to La Trinitรฉ and uses voter misinformation methods entirely unworthy of a candidate for this magisterial position.

On the other hand, I hear the concerns of those tempted by voting for the National Front, and I propose they calmly listen to the project I have for all Trinitรฉ residents.

Nice Premium: What is the most urgent issue in the city?

Jean-Pierre Dalmasso: Everything is urgent, everything is interconnected, everything is transversal; it’s the only way to coherently manage all the themes of a city.

Economic development is very important in our city. Especially since La Trinitรฉ has land currently under study which could enable sustainable economic activity.

I am, of course, thinking of the Anatole France Zone. Of course, this site has potential. It is, however, constrained by several major issues, the first being that it is classified as a flood zone.

Solutions are feasible, but I will ensure there is genuine consultation so that this project is for all Trinitรฉ residents.

Nice Premium: What will be your schedule until March 23, and what will be your major appointments?

Jean-Pierre Dalmasso: I have already had some great meetings with Trinitรฉ residents:

My press conference during which I announced my candidacy, and the inauguration of my campaign office to which many fellow citizens came, and I thank them for their message of support.

I have recently met with young Trinitรฉ residents, and I salute their dynamism. Several meetings are organized in all neighborhoods of the city to discuss all the themes concerning all Trinitรฉ residents.
It will be an opportunity to meet and discuss all subjects that interest them.

Additionally, as is my habit, I have the opportunity to meet my fellow citizens every day in the city, and I am always ready to answer their questions.

Nice Premium: On the evening of the first round, how do you see yourself?

Jean-Pierre Dalmasso: I trust in the reflective capacity of Trinitรฉ residents, and we will continue to develop our community together.

Nice Premium: There is much talk about the rise of the extremes, what is your opinion on this subject?

Jean-Pierre Dalmasso: The mayor is the elected official closest to the citizens, and for me, no question is taboo. I have no ideological framework, and I know the local issues. If one is a candidate capable of listening to and understanding the citizens in all their diversity, the issue of extremes does not arise for the municipal election.

Nice Premium: Will you be a happy candidate if and only if…?

Jean-Pierre Dalmasso: If Trinitรฉ residents express their trust in me and elect me Mayor
