On Friday, November 25, 2011, at the MAMAC Auditorium
For the first time, Gérard GAROUSTE, a painter and sculptor of international renown, comes to NICE at the invitation of the Cercle CASTELLION to speak about his painting.
No contemporary painter has fascinated as much as Gérard GAROUSTE. His work, very polymorphic, draws on very diverse forms of expression.
Gérard GAROUSTE, long considered merely a decorator, is both a painter, draftsman, sculptor, and screenwriter. His autobiography titled “L’Intranquille: Autoportrait d’un fils, d’un peintre, d’un fou,” published in 2009, was wildly successful.
It is through his figurative, allegorical, and narrative painting that he conveys his vision of life, fueled by his research on Western myths and biblical texts. He is also known for his association, La Source, which he founded in 1991, aiming to promote the personal and social development of young people through artistic expression.
This work, which he pursues relentlessly and considers more important than his painting, is it not once again connected to his need to pass on knowledge? It is understood that the title of tonight’s conference is not neutral. It is an invitation to share this journey that Gérard GAROUSTE invites us to through his painting.
