Frédérique Vidal was re-elected for a four-year term as the president of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis by the members of the institution’s board of directors. Her candidacy garnered 29 votes, René Lozi received 4 votes, and there was also 1 blank vote.
Recruited in 1995 at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (UNS) as a lecturer, Frédérique Vidal has been a university professor in life sciences since 2004 and has taught at all levels of education. She was also the director of the faculty of sciences at UNS from 2009 to 2012.
During her first term, Frédérique Vidal was committed to promoting UNS across the entire Côte d’Azur region and changing the perception held by local authorities and the socio-economic world about the University.
She worked notably with her team to create a closer link between all the components of UNS, particularly the generalist components, socio-economic players, and local authorities.
To support the professional integration of students, her efforts highlighted that UNS graduates are collaborators with real added value in terms of their knowledge, skills, and demeanor.
By fostering a relationship of trust with research organizations and higher education and research actors of the Côte d’Azur, UNS managed to unite all the stakeholders in a dynamic of success that led to the creation of UCA and the attainment of the IDEX label for its UCAJEDI project.
In terms of educational offerings, Frédérique Vidal paid careful attention to the balance between research and education by incorporating sustainable funding to support the functioning of the UFR, educational innovation, and improving students’ living conditions.
Support for student initiatives, particularly those within the framework of social and solidarity initiatives, accompanied the vibrancy of university student life.
