Regional elections in PACA: the ecologists represented by Sophie Canard

Latest News

Sophie Camard, co-chair of the EELV-POC group at the Regional Council and chair of the “employment, economic development, higher education and innovation” commission, has been designated as the lead candidate for the regional elections in PACA.

“My region needs exemplary actions in all things,” emphasized Sophie Camard, who rejects “political lockdown and cronyism” and will campaign under the slogan “Neither Le Pen nor Estrosi.”

The slogan, it must be noted, lacks depth and especially perspective, and it is a bit thin for an election campaign.

With this decision, and while awaiting the practically certain decision of the Left Front, which will also appoint its own candidate in the coming weeks, the Socialists and their candidate Christophe Castaner will find themselves quite alone in facing the formidable right-wing competitors, Christian Estrosi and Marion Marรฉchal-Le Pen.

Mission impossible? At first glance, it certainly seems so.

There is no doubt that the aftermath will be much worse than before, but the egos of each will have been preserved, and that is what matters most.

Following this decision by the party’s national council, national secretary Emmanuelle Cosse clearly indicated the focus of the ecologists’ election campaign: “Regions should be more known for their policies favoring the environment, ecology, and quality of life, rather than for values of attractiveness, competitiveness.”

Beautiful words, admittedly a bit hollow!

The task now is to convince the voters.
