100 days until the opening of the European Masters Games.

Latest News

The European Masters Games will be held from October 1 to 11, a first for Nice and France. This international competition intended for “veterans” brings together more than 10,000 master participants of all levels every four years from the age of 35.

Several activities were offered to the people of Nice yesterday afternoon, on the water mirror of the Promenade du Paillon.

Free and open-to-all activities included a giant zumba session where nearly a hundred people moved to a Latin rhythm under a blazing sun. They were able to participate in the filming of a flash mob, which will soon be broadcast on social networks and on the event’s official website before enjoying a small snack and a photocall session.

This “pre-event presentation” was described as part of an “ambitious sports policy,” declared Philippe Pradal, the first deputy mayor. But not only that, the masters are also celebrated in these European Masters Games, providing an opportunity to blend “sport and health.”

There will be no age limit to register for the 27 disciplines offered. The only requirement is to be over 35 years old.

This third edition will be a true celebration of sport. Laurent Ciubini, the sports director for the city of Nice, will compete in three of the 27 disciplines: swimming, running, and orienteering.

A significant event

Nearly 40 sports venues have been selected for this major global competition. Concerts and shows will be organized throughout these 11 days. Although the line-up of artists is not yet known, the city will soon announce a partnership with a major national radio station, which will handle the future programming.

The European Masters Games will open with an opening ceremony in the heart of the city, on Place Masséna.
