These new upward estimates (nearly 160,000 jobs created in one year) come at just the right time to confirm that “things are getting better”.

These were measured at 46,500 new positions (+0.3%) at the end of 2015 and at 40,400 (+0.3%) at the beginning of 2016, according to definitive data published this Thursday.

According to the final figures, over one year, market-sector employment has clearly increased (+159,600 positions, +1.0%). In the first quarter, it rose in the tertiary sector (+0.4% excluding temporary employment), in temporary employment (+0.3%), and slightly in construction (+0.1%), but fell in industry (-0.3%).

In the last quarter of 2015, 14,700 additional jobs were recorded by the institute, and 16,000 for the first quarter of 2016, compared to the previous estimates published on May 13th. In total, “159,600 jobs were created in mainly market sectors (i.e., +1.0%),” states Insee.
