Since July 1st, the numerous tourists and residents who frequent the Ponchettes, Magnan, and Carras beaches have a nice alternative to simply sunbathing: frequenting the “blue cabins” and taking the opportunity to read books of all kinds.
Novels, documentaries, comics, and periodicals are offered to bathers (in foreign languages for tourists).
The formalities for borrowing are reduced to a minimum: name and phone number.
An initial mid-term assessment (August 31st will be the last day of activity for this service) gives high marks to the initiative which, in fact, has no contraindications: between 300 and 400 people per day at the three sites testify to its success.
The experience of this first year will undoubtedly allow some small issues to be adjusted: For example, why not consider reading spaces for literary cafés in the late afternoon with renowned guests?
