This Saturday, August 23, the first team of Stade Niçois will play their first pre-season match against Pontet-Avignon. The kickoff will be at 5 PM in Avignon.
Used to playing at the top of the Federal 2 table, the Avignon team narrowly missed qualification last season, finishing the regular phase in 5th place in their group. For this first match of the year, the coaching trio will select a group of 35 players.
The goal of this first match will be to give playing time to all players so they can get familiar with the new game plan. The coaches will take the opportunity to observe and analyze the qualities of each player to ensure that the project aligns well with the personnel on the team.
The first test is against Pontet-Avignon this Saturday, before facing Nîmes in Ales the following Saturday for the second preparation match. Afterwards, the players will go on a cohesion camp in Châteauneuf de Contes on the weekend of September 6 and 7, before the season opener at Arboras the following Sunday against Saint Savin.
