Currently managed directly by the commune of Carros, the Carros CFA (Center for Apprentice Training) welcomes and trains between 1100 and 1300 young apprentices and adults in programs needed by the economic world each year. Today, 23 certifications are prepared by this CFA.
Apprenticeship serves as an effective means for professional integration: more than 60% of apprentices find a job less than 6 months after their training.
For Christian Estrosi, president of the Region, apprenticeship is at the heart of the strategy for economic development, growth, and employment: “It is an effective response to combat youth unemployment. Yet, the number of apprentices has declined: from 29,000 apprentices in PACA in 1998, we decreased to 27,500 apprentices in 2015. I have set a goal of 50,000 apprentices by the end of my term.”
Yesterday, Christian Estrosi, this time in his capacity as President of the Metropolis, shared his decision to attach this municipal structure to the Nice Cรดte dโAzur Metropolis, which handles responsibilities related to economic development as well as integration and employment: the missions of the CFA align with these two competencies.
“The Metropolis is structured and organized to support this service for the benefit of employment and businesses,” he stated during a visit to the school complex, accompanied by the mayor of Carros, Charles Scibetta, who will remain its president.
For him, “this priority is reflected in the resources dedicated to the functioning of the CFAs, as well as strong commitments in terms of investment to provide these centers with every advantage to achieve excellence.”
The agreement that ties the Region and the commune of Carros will expire on December 31, 2016, so a new agreement will be made between the Region and the Nice Cรดte dโAzur Metropolis.
The metropolis will become the managing body of this CFA on January 1, 2017.
