This file, poorly put together by the same protagonists of yesterday and today, will only divide the right internally.
The Cour des Comptes published its report on high-speed lines on Thursday. The report is harsh towards the projects for new routes. The main criticism from the Cour des Comptes is that the TGV would not be profitable enough.
Nice is barely mentioned in this report since the Marseille-Nice high-speed line is mentioned only once. Behind this silence, one must see yet another postponement of this project, solely on the grounds that air travel is sufficient to serve Nice.
Marie-Christine Arnautu regrets that beyond the bravado and announcements, the deputy mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, has done nothing to conclude the high-speed line project that would finally open up Nice, both in relation to Marseille and Paris. Unfortunately, Christian Estrosi had already quickly forgotten Nice and the people of Nice when he was Minister of Regional Development from 2005 to 2007.
The Front National refuses that transport policy depends solely on the criterion of profitability. The primary objective of rail transport must remain regional development and providing the best possible service to users.
