The ARS (regional health agency) communicates:
In this initial “pre-epidemic” phase, the strategy is to detect and manage cases and so-called “contacts” as early as possible to prevent any spread of the virus.
Which institutions are mobilized by ARS Paca under this plan?
A first level of response relies on frontline healthcare institutions authorized for COVID-19: the University Hospital
(CHU) of Nice is one of them. These institutions have a highly specialized technical platform and permanent access to an infectious disease specialist. They will particularly ensure the management of patients classified as “confirmed cases” under maximum safety conditions within infectious and tropical disease services and/or intensive care units.
What precautionary measures should be communicated to the public?
However, protective measures, such as washing hands regularly or using alcohol-based hand sanitizers, are essential reflexes to adopt to protect oneself from the disease as well as from other viruses circulating during the winter season.
To reduce the risk of spreading the disease, people returning from high-risk areas should adopt the following precautionary measures:
Within 14 days of return:
- Monitor your temperature twice a day;
- Watch for the onset of respiratory infection symptoms (cough, breathing difficulties…);
- Wear a surgical mask when facing another person and when you need to go out;
- Wash your hands regularly or use an alcohol-based solution;
- Avoid any contact with vulnerable people (pregnant women, people with chronic illnesses, the elderly…);
- Avoid visiting places where vulnerable people are present (hospitals, maternity wards, care facilities for the elderly…);
- Avoid any unnecessary outings (large gatherings, restaurants, cinema…).
- Workers/students: where possible, prioritize teleworking and avoid close contact (meetings, elevators, canteen…);
- Children, middle and high school students should not be sent to daycare, school, middle school, or high school, given the difficulty in wearing a mask all day.
If you have a fever or feel febrile, cough, breathing difficulties, quickly contact the SAMU Center 15 and report your travel.
