Mr. Jean Léonetti, Mayor of Antibes, is praiseful in presenting the 13th edition of this festival. Patience, time, and space have made it an event whose eclecticism has turned it into one of the major events in the Provence Côte d’Azur region.
Antibes aims to be very connected to music, with the jazz festival in Juan-les-Pins being the second highlight of the summer. “To know in order to love and to love in order to know,” explains this official, who is passionate about his city and this festival.
The Nuits Carrées festival was born in 2007, 13 years ago, a fine age for a festival that, year after year, confirms its diverse choices. Its director, Sébastien Hamar, presented the 2019 lineup on the terraces of the Anthéa Theater overlooking the Fort Carré. Three days, three music genres, catering to all tastes.
Everything will start on Thursday, June 27th with alternative rock, June 28th will be dedicated to rap, and on June 29th, the third and last day, attendees will be able to discover and listen to pop music. All concerts will take place in the evening with doors opening at 6:30 PM, except for the last night when they will open at 6:00 PM. The venue is Fort Carré, where 15 artists will perform over the three days. The ticket price is €25 per evening.
Every festival has its “off” events, and on June 24th, 25th, and 26th, the music kiosk will offer the public a preview of the Nuits Carrées with free concerts. Street art is not forgotten, with the Belgian duo Hell’o Collective decorating a façade alongside the festival, offering an art experience beyond the walls. A temporary decoration in its duration, but isn’t that the fate of artistic performances?
