In 1957, Yves Klein created his first “Fire Painting” in the garden of the Colette Allendy gallery in Paris on the evening of the opening of his exhibition “Monochrome Propositions.” The artist then lit sixteen Bengal fires attached to a blue monochrome.
Two “Fire Paintings” are displayed at the MAMAC in a room dedicated to the artist.
To celebrate this restoration and share the magic of the Wall of Fire with the public, the MAMAC and PRIMAGAZ are organizing a nighttime opening of the museum open to all audiences, this Saturday from 6 PM to 9 PM. This evening will be punctuated by events surrounding Yves Klein.
The evening will conclude on the MAMAC’s rooftop terrace with the lighting of the Wall of Fire.
