For the 5th edition of OVNi – Objectif Vidéo Nice, video art is taking over the entire city of Nice. Since 2015, this unique festival on the Côte d’Azur has been celebrating the moving image thanks to a collaborative project involving museums, cultural and heritage sites, private apartments, hotels in Nice, and contemporary art galleries.
This year, Nice is celebrating 100 years of the Victorine Studios, a significant site in the film industry on the Côte d’Azur, with the event “The Odyssey of Cinema.” OVNi 2019 is part of this celebration of its heritage by dedicating the West End hotel to videos inspired by traveling shots. Furthermore, this tribute will spread throughout the OVNi en Ville itinerary in places like the Musée Henri Matisse, the Musée Masséna, and the 109.
Finally, this edition reaffirms its intent to be a particularly fertile ground for weaving together video art and various artistic practices, such as digital arts and sound art.
Exhibitions, fairs, concerts, performances, round tables, and workshops bring this festival to life, fostering meetings and exchanges between institutions, gallery owners, collectors, artists, video art and contemporary art enthusiasts, thus establishing over five years the artistic event in Nice for video arts and visual arts.
