At the close of the Grenelle on domestic violence, the youth movement mobilized by G-ADDICTION is calling for an awakening of the entire society.
โIndifference is a reprieve for these women, sisters, daughters, and mothers who suffer violence daily. We all bear a share of the responsibility.
The numbers are appalling: 1 woman dies every 2-3 days at the hands of her partner or ex-partner in Franceโฆ
This must stop! We must collectively do everything in our power to make it happen.
There are already solutions: letโs truly implement what the law allows. Two-thirds of emergency danger phones are not assigned, protective orders are not issued sufficiently, distancing bracelets are not yet deployed. Let’s ensure that when a woman walks into a police station, the Republic truly protects her.
Yes, this requires resourcesโฆ How much is the life of these women worth? It is about saving human lives from hell.
To change things, let’s change mindsets. At our humble level, we are planting seeds to help the youth we engage with to act and react according to a simple principle of respect and gender equality. The stereotypes heard in schoolyards or on university campuses are the breeding ground for misogyny and domestic violence of tomorrow. We must, from an early age, dismantle gender stereotypes, raise questions, and encourage youth to think critically. Let’s prioritize the education of new generationsโฆ
Letโs no longer accept ultra old-school behaviors from a bygone era. We must promote 21st-century France, one of empowerment and affirmation for young women, a France that equips its youth to strive towards genuine equality, a Republic that allows everyone to thrive and fully realize themselves.โ
