The Mediterranean Press Club 06 is organizing a conference-debate on the extension of the green promenade and the demolition of the TNN and the Acropolis.
It will be led by Philippe Tallois (Mediterranean Press Club 06) and will feature the participation of Patrick Allemand, Nice au Coeur, Martine Bayard, daughter and heir of TNN architect Yves Bayard, Éric Ciotti, deputy of the 1st constituency of the Alpes-Maritimes, Michel Cova, scenographer, Hélène Granouillac (EE-LV), municipal councilor, Michel Tschann, former president of the Nice hotel association, Philippe Vardon (RN), municipal councilor.
Meet at the Belmondo cinema, Place Garibaldi at 2 PM.
A first remark concerning this commendable initiative is in order: how can one call it a debate when a conference exclusively includes those who publicly support the thesis against the demolition of the TNN?
Could it not be a rehash of conferences or initiatives in which each participant either participated or organized, expressing their opposition to this project, which has already been the subject of many interventions and comments for several weeks?
Rather, one might imagine a sort of trial in absentia (with the alleged culprit not present), with the peculiar feature of the plural presence of the accusers (the politicians), a presumed plaintiff (Mrs. Bayard), the so-called experts (scenographer Cova and hotelier Tschann), and the absence of a defense?
Each has their reason for not accepting the implementation of the municipal deliberation, authorized by the Ministry of Culture.
The characters are well-known, and they play their roles as opponents of the municipal majority, particularly of its Mayor, Christian Estrosi.
Can one imagine that former socialist leader Patrick Allemand could approve a decision by Christian Estrosi when he already opposed the construction of the new football stadium in the Plain of the Var, the underground tramway line 2, and many other minor projects?
Similarly, what about the personally and politically execrable relationships between the Mayor of Nice and Philippe Vardon?
And what new will Eric Ciotti say except erupting his traditional virulent accusations towards his former “boss” since everything opposes them, probably even their taste in coffee? Did he not already work to withdraw the subsidy already voted by the Departmental Council for the partial financing of this project? Did he not already subsidize the daughter of architect Bayard to create a citizen committee (it would be interesting to know its members) to save this building which the Nice deputy would like to see classified as a historical heritage?
It is understandable that Mrs. Bayard is emotionally disturbed by the demolition of her father’s work, but when referring to the TNN, isn’t it the cultural programming that the artistic direction schedules and its quality that should be considered and judged?
With all the legitimacy that must be recognized in the opinions of the opponents of this project, intellectual honesty would dictate that we do not confuse the product with the container.
And that we call the one-sided conference-debate by its name: a propaganda event.
