COVID-19: It’s stabilizing

According to the figures published by Public Health France on Friday, November 13, 4,887 patients are in a critical condition, compared to 4,884 the previous day.

473 people were admitted to intensive care in the past 24 hours (and almost as many have therefore been discharged). The capacity is now 7,700 intensive care and critical care beds, with the possibility of increasing to 10,400 beds.

The number of hospitalized individuals is also roughly stable at 32,676, compared to 32,654 the previous day. In the last 24 hours, hospitals have admitted 2,841 new patients (and again, almost as many have been discharged). The number of hospitalizations this week exceeded the peak reached during the first wave in the spring, which was 32,292 patients on April 14.

467 Covid-19 patients died in the hospital in the past 24 hours, compared to 418 the previous day. The new deaths bring the total Covid-19 death toll in France to 43,892 (hospitals and nursing homes and other medical-social establishments). Health authorities also report 23,794 new positive cases detected in 24 hours this Friday, compared to 33,172 the previous day.

The positivity rate of tests remains high: it is at 17.7% this Friday, compared to 4.4% at the beginning of September.
