The mandatory mask-wearing on beaches, the coastline, and green spaces* of the Alpes-Maritimes is over! As of this Tuesday, May 4th, this measure is lifted, although mayors can decide to maintain it.
The prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes responded favorably to the request from the mayor of Villeneuve Loubet, who was asking for the lifting of the mask-wearing obligation in green spaces and on the coastline. Lionnel Luca “rejoices at this positive response” to his request.
The prefect indicates that “the epidemiological situation in the department is improving: the incidence rate for the Alpes-Maritimes is 157 per 100,000 inhabitants, and the positivity rate is 4.7%” and highlights “the continuous decrease in conventional hospitalizations for patients with COVID-19.”
The decision to mandate mask-wearing everywhere in the Alpes-Maritimes had been in effect since April 6, 2020.
