How a Nice-Luxembourg Flight Turned into a Journey from Hell

Latest News

Friday, April 15, passengers on a flight departing from Nice, operated by the Spanish airline Volotea, took more than 24 hours to arrive in Luxembourg.

The flight, which was initially supposed to last 1 hour and 30 minutes, encountered some unexpected events.
According to France 3 PACA, the passengers were supposed to board at 6:35 PM, but a delay jeopardized the schedule, and boarding was eventually pushed back by two hours.

Once on board, the passengers’ ordeal was far from over. An hour after takeoff, the captain announced to the travelers that the plane had to turn around due to a curfew imposed at Luxembourg airport.

The aircraft ultimately changed its trajectory to land at Lyon airport around midnight. After a snack offered by the airline, all travelers were provided with a night in a nearby hotel. The next day, around 10:30 AM, a bus picked up the ill-fated passengers to finally get them to their destination.

In a statement published by Volotea, the airline assured that it did its best to mitigate these inconveniences by offering a hotel night with included breakfast, and apologized to all the travelers.

Now, we can only wish a pleasant stay to the airline’s customers, who surely won’t forget their trip anytime soon!
