From April 28 to May 6, the azure capital will come alive with the rhythm of the first edition of a major nautical event: Nice UltiMed. An XXL regatta in the heart of the Mediterranean, where the best French sailors will compete on the largest sailing boats in the world.

Near Place Massรฉna, Christian Estrosi, mayor of Nice, Josรฉ Cobos, deputy mayor in charge of sports events, and Jean-Baptiste Durier, director of Nice UltiMed, have just launched the countdown until the mooring of the boats on April 28 in the Bay of Angels. โ€œFor about ten days, a village will also be set up on the Quai des ร‰tats-Unis,โ€ says Christian Estrosi. โ€œThere will be extremely interesting and exciting moments to share with the skippers and their teams.โ€

A dream cast at the helm of the most imposing racing yachts

On May 2, four maxi-trimarans will set off from the port of Nice to conquer the Mediterranean. Leading these Formula 1s of the seas will be the elite of French sailors: Thomas Coville, former solo around-the-world record holder, Francis Joyon, holder of the Jules Verne Trophy, Armel Le Clรฉacโ€™h, winner of the latest edition of the Vendรฉe Globe, and Yves Le Blรฉvec, third in the British Transat. The four crews will then sail along the coasts of Corsica, Sardinia, the Balearic Islands, and the PACA region twice. The race’s finish is scheduled for the afternoon of May 5. In summary, all the conditions seem to be in place for this grand premiere to be a success.
