This Friday, the Mayor of Nice and Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, Writer, Member of the Académie Goncourt, Honorary President of the 2018 Nice Book Festival, cut the inaugural ribbon for this 23rd edition.
On this occasion, the Mayor of Nice awarded the “Nice Baie des Anges” prize to Jean Siccardi for his novel *L’auberge du gué*.
The Festival has become an unmissable event, with its success growing year after year, attracting over 50,000 visitors over three days. More than 200 authors are featured at the 2018 Book Festival, including: Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio, Douglas Kennedy, Pierre Lemaître, Bernard Werber, Pierre Assouline, Guillaume Musso, Costa-Gavras, Jean-Noël Pancrazi, Nathalie Kuperman… On Saturday, June 2 at 5:30 PM at the Nice Theatre, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt has the honor of offering the people of Nice the premiere of his new play *Madame Pylinska and the Secret of Chopin* in a unique and free performance.
Finally, for the 8th year, the short story competition organized as part of “Reading for All,” now directed by Jean-Luc Gag, has been renewed. All students from the schools in Nice and the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis have been invited to participate in the “Reading for All” competition.
The collection of short stories on the theme “A Night at the Observatory” will be presented and signed by all the young winners this Saturday at 10:30 AM.
For the second time at the Nice Book Festival, the “Reading for All Seniors” prize, chaired by the writer Olympia Alberti, will be awarded to the winners of this competition dedicated to seniors, on the theme “An Event That Changed Your Perspective on Life.”
