Considered one of the two major pétanque events in France, the Europétanque of the Alpes-Maritimes is an unmissable gathering.
More than 2,000 boulistes from 19 nations will participate in this significant event.
This year, the main tournament will feature group stages and will see the return of the world’s top specialists in the discipline, notably the favorite triplet: Philippe Quintais, Henri Lacroix, and Renaud Benji. The recent winner of La Marseillaise, Anthoine Dubois, known as Vigo, will attempt to achieve a double victory by aiming for a win at the Europétanque.
Among the women, Anna Maillard and Nadège Baussian, French champions in doubles, will try to win this prestigious international competition.
The Azurian event, supported by the Department as a major partner, will take place over a long weekend at the Henri Bernard and Gé Gallarato boulodromes, as well as the Carras grounds, and will be watched by thousands of spectators.
An open competition for all, both professionals and amateurs
The event includes a main tournament, a secondary tournament (Malatesta), a national women’s competition, a youth competition, and precision shooting.
Let us remember that since 2016, the “Pétanque Seniors 06” tournament has also been part of the Europétanque lineup.
New in 2018: The main tournament will no longer be played by direct elimination but with a group stage system in the 1st round, ensuring that each team plays a minimum of 3 games.
For this major tournament, 256 playing fields will be set up in the capital of the Côte d’Azur.
