For the 24th edition of the competition, the national jury of the Rubans du Patrimoine has named the town of Vence as the winner of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur regional prize for the rehabilitation of the Villa Alexandrine into a tourist office and the creation of the Witold Gombrowicz museum space, dedicated to a great writer of Polish origin, who lived in Vence during the years.
Villa Alexandrine is a beautiful “Belle Époque” building located in the city center, erected in 1911.
Launched in 1994, the “Rubans du Patrimoine” competition honors municipalities that have opted to carry out renovation or enhancement operations on their built heritage, with national, regional, and departmental prizes.
Organized by the French Building Federation, in partnership with the Association of Mayors of France, the Heritage Foundation, and the Caisse d’Épargne since 2014, this competition thus rewards remarkable initiatives by local authorities each year, thereby contributing to strengthening the idea that heritage is a major issue for city revitalization and territory attractiveness.
