The “Pastapestoday” project will take place during the same period as the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, from November 19 to 25, linking solidarity with the territory to the tradition of the table.
After the tragedy of the Morandi Bridge on August 14, all regional institutions of Liguria have been engaged in actions to help Genoa and its region, whose economy is suffering.
A fundraising campaign, “Pasta Pesto Day,” has now been launched with the goal of raising funds.
Why “pesto”? Because this seasoning is a specialty of Genoa and Liguria. It is the equivalent of the Niรงois “pistou.”
How does the operation work? It’s simple; for each plate of pasta with pesto (pistou), 2 euros (1 euro paid by the customer and 1 euro donated by the restaurateur) will be given to the City of Genoa.
To participate in this charitable action, Italian and international restaurants are encouraged to register on the website: www.pastapestoday.it.
The President of the Regional Council of Liguria, Giovanni Totti: “Pesto is a symbol not only gastronomically of our region but also culturally and socially. Through this project, we want to affirm that Liguria is alive and vital.”
