As tradition dictates, the occasion of the Book Festival is also the occasion to award the Prix Nice Baie des Anges.

For this 25th edition, it is Jean-Luc Barré* who will receive the prize for his work “Le Corps d’origine,” published by Grasset.

This was decided by the jury, presided over by Franz-Olivier Giesbert, composed of experts and ten book and word-loving readers. “A great story told with narrative energy,” commented Franz-Olivier Giesbert, explaining the jurors’ choice.

An essential event of this 2021 literary season, the Nice Book Festival will celebrate its quarter-century from September 17 to 19, under the honorary presidency of Jacques Julliard, historian, essayist, and journalist. From JMG Le Clézio to Michel Onfray, over 200 writers (novelists, essayists, biographers, poets, historians, polemicists, celebrities) will gather in Nice, whose culture and art of living have earned it a place on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Three days of festival, encounters, signings, performances, readings, activities, screenings, exciting discoveries, and debates under the artistic direction of Franz-Olivier Giesbert.

For Christian Estrosi, mayor of Nice, “this festival will be inspired by the cosmopolitan dimension of Nice, its open-mindedness, kindness, and tolerance, in opposition to identity withdrawal, to this absurd inward-looking approach.”

In this vein, the mayor confirmed that Nice will apply to be the European Capital of Culture for the year 2028.

After being listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site… a new challenge!
