At 73 years old, Jean-Pierre Adams passed away at the Nรฎmes University Hospital on Monday, September 6, after 39 years in a deep coma.
Since March 17, 1982, the former French international had been in a deep coma due to an anesthesia error. A great central defender, he participated in 22 matches with the French national team between 1972 and 1976. During this period, he formed a legendary central pairing with Marius Trรฉsor in the history of the French team, known as “La garde noire” (The Black Guard).
He started his career as an amateur at AC Fontainebleau, then entered the professional world with Nรฎmes Olympique in 1970. He then joined OGC Nice, the club with which he had his best years. He played 215 matches in the red and black colors and scored 15 goals for the club. He eventually left the Cรดte dโAzur for Paris Saint Germain for two seasons, then joined FC Mulhouse and later FC Chalonnais.
