Today, Tuesday, September 21, the 3.5-meter-tall puppet Little Amal continues her walking journey “The Walk.” While she represents a symbol of Syrian immigration, Amal has already stopped in several destinations, and her next stop is in Breil-sur-Roya. Originating from the Handspring Puppet Company, Little Amal is above all a message of hope and support for migrants.
As the sun’s rays reappear in the region, a little girl is expected this morning at 10:30 AM in Breil-sur-Roya. Since her departure, she has already traveled through Turkey, Greece, and Italy, and today the little refugee sets her bags down in France.
The Roya Valley is well-known for its support of migrants, with main activist Cรฉdric Herrou (known for his support of refugees) so the arrival of the puppet in this region is a nod to his commitment.
“Don’t forget us.”
This is the precise message that the puppet attempts to convey at each of her stops. A positive message that aims to capture society’s attention through a highly unprecedented event. Little Amal is traveling from the Syrian-Turkish border to the United Kingdom, covering a total of 8,000 km on foot.
