The right-wing candidate in the 2022 presidential election visited Saint-Martin-Vésubie on Monday with Eric Ciotti. Despite the disagreements expressed the previous day, the latter reaffirmed his “total and complete” support for Valérie Pécresse.
“This was a gesture I wanted to make because Eric ran a remarkable campaign,” emphasized Valérie Pécresse. “Eric has a very unique role to play in this campaign.”
However, in the upcoming campaign for the presidential election, the finalist of the congressional race hopes to influence the candidate’s program and stance: “These are the values of authority, identity, and freedom that the French people have strongly supported” in this membership vote, he stated. He thus intends to play a decisive role in the now-official LR candidate’s campaign, by “advocating these values,” “side by side with [her].”
The candidate is also expected to visit the strongholds of her other defeated competitors, notably on Friday with Xavier Bertrand in the Hauts-de-France. “I want to bring together all the different facets of the right,” has been the ongoing refrain since Saturday from the president of the Île-de-France region.
