On the occasion of the Feast of the Assumption, the city of Nice has prepared a lovely program for you for the day of August 15th. The festivities will begin at 6 PM at the Nice port.
The Feast of the Assumption is a Christian holiday. It represents “The Assumption of Mary,” in other words, the day she was taken up to heaven. Moreover, August 15th is a Catholic public holiday. It allows many French people to spend this day with family or friends.
The Evening’s Schedule
6 PM: Parade of pointus in the harbor and musical entertainment by pianist Steve Villa-Massone, especially known as “The Pianist of Place Masséna “
6:30 PM: Departure in procession towards the quai d’Entrecasteaux
6:50 PM: Boarding on the pointus of the Officials
7:30 PM: Outdoor Mass on quai d’Entrecasteaux presided over by Bishop Jean-Philippe Nault, bishop of Nice.
8:45 PM: Procession returning towards Notre Dame du Port Church
An event as significant as August 15th will welcome Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis. He will be accompanied by some of his deputies.

- Unfortunately, there will be no fireworks display this year for August 15th.
- Free event.
- The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis and Ligne d’Azur have set up a shuttle service between Saint-Martin-Vésubie and the sanctuary of Madone de Fenestre. The shuttle will run from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
