Today, the presentation of the Joia Nice Méridia project site took place, with a focus on the Hana building. In the presence of the architect of the Hana building, Sou Fujimoto.
The project unveiled in 2018 has made significant progress. We had the opportunity to take stock yesterday during a site visit. Today, Christian Estrosi, the people behind the financing of this project, as well as the architect of the “Hana” building inaugurated today, Mr. Sou Fujimoto, were present.
This new building is compared to a flower, hence its name “Hana”, which means flower in Japanese. It is the first petal of a major project that will completely change the face of the Var plain. The building’s large balconies resemble flower petals, designed to accommodate plants and thus bring more green into the city.
A complete new neighborhood
The spotlight was on the versatility of this neighborhood, which will allow its future residents to have everything within reach. With its 35% social housing, student residence, and apartments sold to a diverse range of clients, the neighborhood promises to be varied and does not exclude any social background. Residents will be able to work, have fun, find housing, enroll their children in schools, and enable them to pursue higher education in the surrounding institutions.
This new part of Nice will feature educational, research, and residential facilities. It will be a sporting neighborhood with a 500 m2 surf wave and a three-level climbing wall. Many restaurants, bars, and a hotel will be moving in. In total, 30 businesses are coming, enough to liven up this neighborhood, which is more akin to a small city within the city.
