Nice Volley Ball traveled to Nantes Rezรฉ for the fifth day of the Marmara SpikeLigue. Overpowered, the Eagles were defeated for the fourth consecutive time (25-10/26-24/25-17).
Stopping this dreadful series of defeats and rediscovering the taste of victory, the Eagles were facing a significant challenge this Saturday evening on the court of Nantes Rezรฉ. The team from Nice hasnโt won a single match since their home victory against Toulouse during the first day of the championship. There is an urgent need to get back on the path of success. However, it won’t be easy, as the Nantais are undefeated this season, with four victories in as many matches. Nice Volley Ball is currently stuck in thirteenth and second-to-last place in the championship.
Nantes made the best start in the match. Struggling with reception, the team from Nice already trailed by five points in the first set. The Eagles were simply not in it during this first set, while Nantes soared ahead in the score. Strongly dominant and boosted by the winning attacks of Matthis Henno, Nantes Rezรฉ easily took the first set (25-10).
A slight rebound in the second set
The Nantais also took the lead at the start of the second set. A small lead was created in favor of Nantes Rezรฉ. Winning points by Franรงois Rebeyrol kept the team from Nice in the game. This set was tighter than the first. Despite a prideful rally, Luis Paolinetti and his teammates let the second set slip away (26-24). Nantes Rezรฉ increased their lead in this match.
Once again in this match, it was the Nantais who made the better start in this third set. Led by their attacking duo Neves-Henno, Nantes Rezรฉ gained up to an eight-point advantage. This set closely resembled that of the first set. Struggling with receptions, the Eagles succumbed to a final attack from the Nantes team (25-10/26-24/25-17). The team from Nice recorded a fourth defeat in five championship matches, the third without winning a single set. Nice Volley Ball remains at their disappointing 13th place in the championship.
The next match for Nice Volley Ball is scheduled for next Tuesday, November 14th at 7 p.m. The Eagles will host Chaumont for the sixth day of the championship.
