Patrick Malléa succeeds Maurice Schneider and Jacques Médecin. He thus becomes the sixth President of the Alpes-Maritimes Committee of the League Against Cancer. For the occasion, a ceremony was organized in his honor.
However, this ceremony does not only serve to introduce the new president. It also serves to pay tribute to the former presidents for their journey and work. The fight against the disease is not over. France could become the best in this field, notably with new techniques. In the meantime, the league supports patients and their families.
“You are the representatives of the energy deployed by our country. I admire and am grateful to this league for its work to push back the disease and improve hope,” expresses Eric Ciotti, President of the Departmental Council of Alpes-Maritimes. He later puts forward a health project proposal of 25 million euros. The department remains committed and faithful to the fight.
Who is Patrick Malléa?
Nurtured by the medical field, he conducted tests on robot cadavers during his military service. In 2000, he partnered with Barbara Pollock to develop a charitable movement to support children with cancer. In 2002, he joined the Directorate of Clinical Research and Innovation at the Nice University Hospital to work on an innovation policy and understand what he needed to do in health.
“The patient is the master of my schedule. Life must be preserved, and one must be dedicated to care,” declares Patrick Malléa. About 40% of cancers are preventable. However, it’s necessary to enhance techniques to detect the disease. The new president already plans several projects: initiating a digital shift, continuing research support with a budget of 200,000€, and adapting treatment for the elderly.
