OGCN Handball completed a challenging year in 2024. Despite ups and downs, the women from Nice finished last season in 9th place in the Ligue Butagaz รnergie. Let’s look back on a turbulent year.
The 2023-2024 season began with a promising victory against Saint-Amand Handball (36-27). However, the Aiglonnes quickly followed this with four defeats, marking a difficult start. This inconsistency persisted throughout the season, alternating between convincing victories and frustrating setbacks.
At the start of 2024, the team went through a critical period with several heavy defeats, notably against Metz Handball (19-37). These results dropped the women from Nice into the lower half of the standings. Despite this, they found the resources to bounce back at the end of the season. The last home game ended with a victory, enabling OGCN Handball to finish in ninth place, totaling 44 points.
New Horizons for 2024-2025
The end of the season marked a turning point with the arrival of Sรฉbastien Mizoule as head coach. โThere are great things to do here, and I arrive with a lot of enthusiasm and experience,โ he stated at the beginning of his tenure. Under his leadership, the team showed a very different face in the early games of the 2024-2025 season.
The club also experienced a lively transfer window. Several key players left the squad, but the arrival of Marine Dupuis and Marie-Hรฉlรจne Sajka, former players from Neptunes de Nantes, strengthened the attack lines. These reinforcements, combined with solid summer preparation, allowed OGCN to start the new season with an encouraging record: 4 victories against 3 defeats and a provisional fifth place in the standings.
While the ambitions of the women from Nice remain measured, their progress is notable. Still competing in the Coupe de France, they hope to maintain their momentum to aim higher this year.
