AnimaNice: When Culture Rhymes with Solidarity

Latest News

In exchange for food supplies, the public was able to attend around forty activities to benefit the Food Bank 06. A civic action that illustrates the City of Nice’s commitment against poverty.

This Tuesday morning, the AnimaNice Bon Voyage center hosted a symbolic and deeply supportive event: the official handing over of donations collected in the city’s 18 AnimaNice centers to benefit the Alpes-Maritimes Food Bank. In the presence of numerous local figures, this ceremony concluded a month of cultural and civic events serving the less fortunate.

Since March 1st, the AnimaNice centers have organized about forty shows, concerts, plays, and various workshops. The uniqueness of these events? The admission price was not a ticket but four food or hygiene products. An initiative that honors culture while strengthening local solidarity.

A record collection in sight

“This project, launched in 2016, perfectly embodies the values of proximity and civic engagement supported by the City of Nice,” recalled Jean-Luc Gagliolo, Deputy Mayor in charge of Education, School Culture, and Leisure for all. Alongside him, several elected officials, Tony Amato, President of the Food Bank, and Noëlle Perna, godmother of the operation, emphasized the importance of this human chain.

Last year, more than 5 tons of supplies were collected, equivalent to 10,000 meals distributed. In 2025, organizers hope to break this record with even wider mobilization. All donations will be handed over to the Food Bank 06, which will then redistribute them to associations working daily on the ground.

“Offering access to culture while fighting against food insecurity, that’s the essence of our commitment,” shared one of the project facilitators. An inclusive approach where every donation counts, and where culture becomes a driver of social justice.
