On the occasion of the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC), the city of Nice is opening its municipal museums every day from June 9 to June 13.
During the week of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference, the municipal museums of Nice will remain accessible every day. This continuous opening also applies to days typically closed to the public.
This is a wish of the municipality to allow residents and visitors to fully enjoy the cultural event associated with the conference.
The eleven exhibitions of the Arts and Ocean Biennale will therefore be visible throughout the week, in all the involved establishments. Only the Charles Nรจgre Photography Museum closed its doors yesterday, Sunday, June 8, as an exception.
Here are the museums open from Monday, June 9 to Friday, June 13, from 10 AM to 6 PM:
- Matisse Museum
- Jules Chรฉret Fine Arts Museum
- Charles Nรจgre Photography Museum
- Archaeology Museum of Nice-Cimiez
- Terra Amata Prehistory Museum
- Massรฉna Museum
- Lascaris Palace
This extended opening is part of an effort towards cultural inclusion. It aims to encourage exchanges between the public, the artworks, and ocean-related themes.
In the context of international reflection on the protection of the marine environment, culture is also a driver of awareness. The Arts and Ocean Biennale brings together artists, researchers, and citizens around environmental issues.
Entry remains under the usual conditions. Interested visitors are encouraged to organize themselves to take advantage of this opportunity. Staff will be mobilized to ensure the best possible hospitality conditions.
This cultural initiative accompanies the many measures set up in Nice for the UNOC. The city aims to involve residents in discussions about the future of the ocean, also through art and heritage.
