The Nice Côte d’Azur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) has been awarded the Engaged RSE label by AFNOR. This distinction is based on the international ISO 26000 standard and evaluates the maturity of social, environmental, and economic commitments. The consular chamber becomes the first CCI in France to obtain this recognition.
The Nice Côte d’Azur CCI continues its structuring around CSR. The AFNOR’s Engaged RSE label (French Standardization Association, Editor’s note) is based on 47 criteria. They are divided into eight themes covering governance, human resources, environmental impact, territorial anchoring, and economic performance. This analysis grid positions the organization in relation to its internal practices, responsibilities, and the way it involves its stakeholders.
On Thursday, November 20, 2025, the CCI officially received this certification. It thus becomes the first French Chamber of Commerce and Industry to obtain this recognition conferred by AFNOR. The step marks a culmination for an approach undertaken more than eighteen months ago. It complements the certifications already obtained in its establishments, notably QUALIOPI for training and CLEAN PORTS for the ports of Golfe-Juan, Gallice, and Vauban.
The scope of this labeling is broad. It covers all the activities of the CCI: business services, training, and port management. The recognition therefore concerns a global operational model and not just a single internal sector. This approach seems consistent with the chamber’s desire to integrate CSR into all its actions.
The award ceremony opened with a welcome by Jean-Pierre Savarino, president of the Nice Côte d’Azur CCI. He reiterated the foundations of CSR. He mentioned an organization that embeds its actions in a responsible framework and seeks to reinforce its role in the territory. The president emphasized the progressive transformation of the CCI over recent years: “The acquisition of the Engaged RSE label constitutes recognition for the concrete action we take daily in supporting businesses to adopt a responsible and sustainable approach. The Nice Côte d’Azur CCI has evolved a lot in recent years and has become a high-performing, modern, and humane public company whose actions systematically take into account, beyond the general interest, the three pillars of CSR: environment, economy, and social.”
A label symbolic of the strong commitment of the Nice Côte d’Azur CCI
This speech paved the way for a presentation of the label by Fabrice Fauroux, representing AFNOR. He outlined the values associated with the framework and explained its objective: to encourage organizations to structure their actions, demonstrate their commitments, and incorporate their operations into a continuous improvement framework.
Franck Scarlatti, general director of the Nice Côte d’Azur CCI, returned to the meaning of this approach. He discussed the significance of the labeling and what it entails for the teams. “The Nice Côte d’Azur CCI supports, as part of its public service missions, the companies in its territory in their CSR approach. This labeling holds exemplary value and enhances its credibility in carrying out its activities. Through distinctive sustainable practices and anticipation of regulations, the CCI gains a new asset in competitive procedures while developing its employer brand.”
The general director also reiterated that CSR is an integral part of the CCI’s daily operations. It affects both internal work and the support provided to businesses in the territory. The initiatives undertaken concern human resource management, improvement of environmental impact, participation in local initiatives, and consideration of regulatory developments.
The ceremony concluded with the symbolic awarding of the diploma. It marks the recognition of committed work, but also the opening of a new phase. The label aims for an evolving dynamic and requires ongoing progress. The Nice Côte d’Azur CCI must now maintain its level of commitment and follow an action plan that will be evaluated in future stages.
This labeling provides a readable framework. It offers a common base to continue ongoing projects and develop new ones. It positions the CCI as an actor seeking to strengthen its role in the Azur economic ecosystem by integrating social and environmental issues into its overall strategy.
