Amel Tir appointed sub-prefect in charge of the “Nice Montagne” mission

The prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes confirms the appointment of Amel Tir as sub-prefect in charge of the “Nice Montagne” mission. The presidential decree of May 7, 2026 has formalized this arrival within the prefectural team. She will take office on June 1st, with a first public appearance in Menton.

Amel Tir’s professional trajectory spans several areas of public action. Her initial experience took place within the Ministry of National Education, with involvement in educational support and then in teaching. The remainder of her career has been oriented towards school life, with a role as principal education advisor, before taking on responsibilities in the management of establishments in Val-d’Oise. A new chapter then opened for her in territorial state administration.

Subsequently, a mission as delegate of the prefect of Val-d’Oise structured several years of local action, before taking the helm of the office of the prefect delegated for equal opportunities. The sub-prefecture of Gourdon, in Lot, constitutes her last assignment before arriving in the Alpes-Maritimes.

The “Nice Montagne” mission focuses on a range of issues related to high-altitude territories. Monitoring public policies, coordination with local stakeholders and managing challenges specific to valleys form the core of the position.

A new dynamic at the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture

The prefecture also announces that Amel Tir will make her first appearance at a ceremony in Menton. She will lay a wreath at the war memorial there, “on June 1st at 4 p.m., Place des Victoires”.

This appointment comes in a context of progressive reorganization of the prefectural team. The renewal dynamic within the prefectural organization is part of a movement initiated several months ago. The Alpes-Maritimes prefecture welcomed Céline Maquet on December 1st, 2025. The appointment had been formalized by a decree of the President of the Republic dated November 6, 2025. The position focused on a specific area: sub-prefect in charge of the “city policy and social policies” mission. The post succeeded that held by Jehane Bensedira, who was called to other responsibilities in Pas-de-Calais. This arrival came a few months after prefect Laurent Hottiaux took office and was part of the monitoring of priority neighborhoods, actions in favor of inclusion, social cohesion and equality, as well as contractual programs between the State and local authorities.
